At the moment, we’ve all been locked down for three months due to COVID-19, with good results for our health. However, it has essentially meant that the fly-in season of 2020 is entirely cancelled. EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, WI and the Arlington Fly-In in Arlington, WA, two tent-pole events in the summer flying calendar, are both cancelled. Every fly-in in between has been cancelled as well, as we focus on not allowing the pandemic to spread.
We are, of course, sad to see these major events shut down. However, we’re encouraged by everyone’s commitment to each other, and keeping each other healthy.
Unfortunately, this has meant that EAA Chapter 84’s events have also been cancelled: no Young Eagle events, no fly-ins, not even any in-person membership meetings for at least three months. We are particularly sad to lose our Red-Tailed Hawks event, where we run a Young Eagles event which specifically invites our black and brown friends to join us in the joy of aviation.
Thank you for doing your part to help keep everyone safe as the world muddles through this pandemic, and we’re so looking forward to seeing you in person again as soon as we safely can!
